Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!
2. Travel Planning
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS The closest major city to Radda in Chianti is Florence, Italy. Rome, Milan, and Bologna are also major cities with train connections to Florence that are easy to use. There are many ways to get to Europe and Italy. Ryan Air, www.ryanair.com, operates inexpensive flights within Europe. They fly in and out of secondary airports in major cities in Europe. You might consider flying to a major city such as London or Frankfurt, connecting to Bologna, Italy on Ryan Air, and then taking a train from Bologna to Florence. We will be monitoring flights to Italy and will keep an eye out for good deals. Please let us know if you have any questions about traveling to Florence and Radda in Chianti. We will also be researching accommodations around Radda in Chianti and Florence.

PS: VERY IMPORTANT! Since someone posted a picture of an ALITALIA aircraft, here is my sincere advice: DO NOT FLY ALITALIA!! It is probably the worst international carrier ever! They cancel flights on a daily basis for "operational reasons", and their employees are on strike most of the time. Pick any other major international airline for your travel arrangements...Trust me guys, I've been working close to Alitalia for too long now. Ciao! Mauro

PS2: USEFUL TIPS & TRICKS (and websites!)
Hi, it's still me (the groom's bro-in-law)!
Just wanted to give you a few more options as far as flights and stuff.
- Florence has a sucky airport. We, at the Bologna airport, too often have to "welcome" passengers who were supposed to land in Florence. Most of the times it's because of strong winds (!). So the main airport in Tuscany is PISA, better served than Florence itself.
- Venice is a good option if you're looking at non stop flights US-to-Italy, probably the best option after Rome. Venice is served non stop from JFK, Atlanta (Delta) and Philadelphia (USAirways). You might as well consider a stopover in Venice before heading towards the Tuscan countryside :)
- If you're looking into hoppin' around Europe on cheap flights, check this awesome search engine for low-cost carriers: www.skyscanner.net
Ciao!

Cell Phone Service - Does anyone know how to make your cell phone work in Italy/Europe? I would be cool to be able to carry a cell phone around with us, since we (this is Brent) are going to be traveling around Europe for a couple of weeks. I'll post more information here if I figure out the best option...

I just found some fun links if you're looking for fun things to do while you're here (as if Italian culture doesn't have enough to offer!) I looked for things specifically near Radda...let us know if you're looking for something specific in another area.
Our favorite hotel finding link is www.venere.com For train service (you can buy tickets here too) www.treniitalia.it If I have much to say on flight patterns, I prefer a stop-over in Munich or Frankfurt or thirdly London, just because of the frequency of flights daily. That way if you miss a flight or they lose your luggage, there are other flights during the day. But hey...as long as you get here...that's what counts!! So... Bicycle rental and scooter rental (motorini)in Greve from Officina Ramuzzi: tel. 055/853037 no website sorry Horseback rides: Associazione sportiva e culturale Rendola Riding Rendola Valdarno 52025 Montevarchi (Arezzo) tel. e fax 055/9707045 45 min away Golf courses (cannot verify the quality...sorry golfing is not genetic!) Campo da golf l'Ugolino - www.golfugolino.it or one closer towards Bologna (and cheap!) is http://www.molinodelpero.it/ Natural park area for walking - www.parcocavriglia.com). Thermal spa nearest is in Rapolano about 45 min awayi - www.termeaq.it . Also does anyone have good links for buying museum tickets early? That could be handy! Can't wait to meet everyone! Heather (S.O.G---sister of groom---but we really prefer HJ now---sorry Matty:)) |

I just thought it was festive to put an Italian plane on the page :) .. I think Brent and I are going to be on NorthWORST or United... I'll post some our itinerary soon as we get it... We're still trying to figure out our whole agenda... We are flying in around Oct 7th into London/Amsterdam/Copenhagen/Munich/Zurich.. doing a couple days at one of those.. then going to either Budapest/Slovenia/Croatia/Austria for a week... then flying into Italy on Wed the 18th - Florence/Bologna/Rome/Pisa... we're obviously still working on the details. We'll probably rent a car and drive to wherever we're staying around radda. There are a ton of options for cheep flights around Europe and we're just trying to figure what works best... I'll ask to brent post the airlines he's been looking into... Wade
